security system on 2003 SE Roadking
« on: June 07, 2010, 02:20:13 PM »

Hey Guys,Kinda new to this group since I recently purchased my first CVO.Have had several Harleys over the years, but never one with an alarm system. I purchased a 2003 SE Roadking this winter.Good condition.16k,Rinehart true duals,Power Coomander III. I have never had to use the key fob to disarm the bike when I started it,so I assumed it wasn't enabled.I had surgery about 3 weeks ago and the bike has been sitting. I went out the other day and started polishing and waxing, since I can't ride it I may as well give it a good waxing. I unhooked the batt to clean posts etc. I didn't think anything about the alarm system.
Today I tried to start it and it cranks, but won't start. According to the owners manual, at least the way I interpret it,if the alarm system wasn't enabled,it should not matter if you disconnect the batt.Likewise, if it was the security system,it would not crank. Is this right?
I haven't checked for spark or fuel yet, since i still can't do much.(fused vertebre in neck).I thought someone may have some idea of the problem. Am i missing something? Do I need to program the security system or what?
Thanks a bunch.

I have that same scooter and have disconnected and reconnected the battery numerous times with no issues.  I'm afraid I'm not much help, except to say it doesn't seem like you did anything wrong that is obvious to me.  :nixweiss:
