LRebel, I think it's time for you to switch to a new bike.  Apparently, this bike is a lemon.

Don't think this hasn't crossed my mind.  I just don't want to get raped in a trade  :o

I can't imagine why this can't be fixed  :nixweiss:  If they replace everything from the clutch master cylinder down to the transmission, they should finally find the problem  :nixweiss:

Have they looked at the "slave cylinder" ?????  It is housed in the tranny cover.  This seems to have corrected the problem on my CVO.  I can't remember the bike shifting soooo smoothly and finding neutral so easily.  This may indeed be you rpoblem too.

Time for an update:  I started this thread on June 7th... the clutch was slipping.  Charged for clutch plates because "wearable parts" are not covered under extended warranty.

Didn't ride the bike much due to some health issues until August.  Clutch still slipping.  Took the bike back to dealer on August 23rd.  They installed a stronger spring... clutch still slipping.  MoCo gave the OK to install a whole new clutch assembly... clutch still slipping.  Dealer installed an even heaver spring and different clutch plate.  Bike has been at the dealer for 20 days this time.  Picked the bike up today and started the 30+ mile ride home... clutch still slipping.

So, I'm gonna let my bike spend the night here at home before I take it back to the dealer in the morning... with the clutch still slipping.  Gonna drop it off at the dealer early and then I'm going to have to listen to my wife try to talk me out of going to buy a GoldWing  >:(

It's been awhile since I read this thread, so if you've already answered this please excuse me.  Did they do anything with the master cylinder, the actuator (slave cylinder), or the pushrod/release bearing?  Obviously something is not allowing the clutch to fully engage, and those items are all capable of creating the issue.  Since they supposedly replaced the entire clutch (just the plates, or the real entire clutch including hub/plates/pressure plate?) and spring, there's not much else other than the hydraulic line itself and the parts I mentioned.  Seems they could at least replace one part at a time to determine what the root cause is, if they don't know how to do it any other way.

This is heat related.  I suspect that it could be the slave cylinder.  I mentioned it to the service writer, but they said they have to try all the other stuff first.  I will be telling them again in the morning.

I'm thinking I need to call HD myself... maybe check how the "Lemon Law" might apply here in Oklahoma.

My Clutch is still slipping but I no longer think it is heat related since yesterday was  a relatively cool day .  We went to Cape Cod to visit family and there is no friction zone untlil the very end of the clutch lever travel.  I really need to bring the bike in soon.

Any updates from anyone else?

Yes, I finally got my bike back a couple of weeks ago.  They finally replaced the master cylinder and slave cylinder.  They said the problem was the slave cylinder.

I would think that your clutch has probably slipped enough and long enough that it is wore enough to slip regardless.

So far, the clutch on my bike feels great -- No problems, and I have rode it pretty hard to make sure there are no problems.  Hopefully it will last.

Just thouth I would mention that I finally have corrected my slipping clutch issue.  They made me change out the plates earlier this year but the problem still existed.  In early August, I had them replace just the Slave Cylinder.  After a 3K trip to Williamsburg over Labor day Week no problems.

Mine is still holding up since they replaced the master & slave cylinder.  It's been a little over a year now.

My 08 Ultra is in Delaware as of 1pm this afternoon...Anne and I are in MA after renting a car.

We left Memorial Day weekend on a two week trip.  Headed west to Kentucky and Nashville before travelling to VA Beach for a week and our God-daughter's Graduation.  Left with about 36K on the bike...more than 3K since the new Slave Cylinder and all was running well.  On Day 2, I felt the tranny slip once or twice while in 5th (Any need for extra torque would cause the RPMs to rise up but the bike was not getting the power to the wheels).  I started to baby it.

Spent the next few days between Lexington, Bowling Green and a couple of nights in Nashville.  Noticed the slipping more often.  Left for Asheville, NC on 31 May.  It was colder that day and the slipping was less.  Definately worse in the heat.  Got To the Hills of Asheville with only minimal problems.  Did not ride the next day and on Saturday left for VA Beach.  Slipping continued in the upper gears but while in VA noticed that now I was noticing it in lower gears.  Stopped at the dealer in VA Beach on Thursday.  he mentioned that the Tranny Basket may be moving too much as he had seen this on another bike.

I decided to try and make it home.  This morning left the beach at around 6 and the bike slipped only minimally.  But with the lights on 13 I noticed that 1st was getting worse the longer we ran and the hotter the bike got.  Filled up in Salisbury abd kept going but the slipping got worse.  1st was so bad that I had completely let the handle go and it was barely catching but I made it ti New Castle where at a light, I did not think the bike would move.  Made it into the gas station at that light, filled upo again and let the bike sit to cool down a little.  At that point, I told Anne we probably won't make it home.

Dropped it off at the dealer there and asked them to open the tranny and check it against the specs and tighten it up or whatever else it takes.

Bottom Line, I DO NOT BELIEVE this is a clutch problem.

Details are sketchy as I was not able to get the tech on the phone.  Decided to upgrade to the SE Clutch to see if that helps.  Nothing noted in the Tranny.  will be picking it up this weekend.  340 miles home wwill test it a little.
