I think there's something in that red paint that does something to your brain...I love the color, too.  But, just because a color isn't my favorite doesn't make it ugly.  I've never seen an ugly CVO...

Hey, there's nothing the matter with the brains of red bike owners.  I take mine out and play with it all the time.  So I should know !!

Don't care for flames either. However, the new blacked out 2010 mid year CVO Ultra pretty much takes the cake.  
 

I really want to like that bike.  And I almost do.  Or I do almost.  Something like that.  

This isn't to in any way offend those that have them.  Strictly to my eye, however, Harley cut corners.  The bike is only a half done attempt at a truly striking blacked out mean looking machine.  But all that black interrupted as it is by the splotches of chrome on the tranny, cam cover, rockers and elsewhere; and the big interruption of the theme in the exhaust just makes the entire project seem half done or in such a big way incomplete.

Although, I do think that paint scheme would have looked awesome with a full CVO chrome package. For me its always been a "chrome or go home" theme, especially when it comes to the CVO Ultra.

Sure; and it has been for years.  Nay, decades.  We're behaviorally trained to expect intake/induction/exhaust upgrades as part of the cost of purchase just to make the bikes run reasonably.  Not exceptionally.  Just reasonably.  So that a "blacked out custom" offered by Mother Harley is only half-assed-blacked-out isn't surprising.  It is disappointing.  Again.  But it's not surprising.

Not ugly, but the black is pretty plain.  Also of limited appeal is the 03 road king with "centennial gold" with black scrape marks and the 105th is mabye the worst color combo made to date.

No different from the chromed CVO's ... they only start the "theme" whether it be chrome or black ... it's up to us to finish it.

I have to agree with this.  When I first saw them, I thought the MOCO was catering to Sunoco Oil company execs.

I never cared for the silver Fat Boy or the autumn haze Ultra or any color
that doesn't stand out and say LOOK AT ME I AM A CVO!!!!!!

I do not want to spend big dollars on a bike that just blends in with all the
other bikes.
