New Fatboy Comin'? Maybe.
« on: February 18, 2006, 08:43:30 PM »

Well maybe stepping up a bracket on the board. This afternoon I gave a stealer my counter-offer on a 05 silver with 2K miles on her. We have about an inch of ice on the ground with a terrible forecast for the next week and he has been sitting on this trade-in for some time. I would never part with my SEEG banana but it will sure be nice to add a friend for her in the stable. Plus I thought the 05 Silver was the best looking bike I'd ever seen when it came out and everytime I see one, I start to shake like a dog passing peach pitts. Have to wipe my chin just thinking about it.
I'll wait and see who breaks first but I sure hope he does. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

MJZ, Just wondering what kind of deal they are cutting you, there have been a few NEW Silver 05's going in the 23K range from motivated stealers, so put on your poker face and deal em down!

Thanks Eagle, that is good to know. I am looking at about 20K including a trade-in of a Honda dirtbike worth about 4K.
I am surprised to hear some new ones have been going in the 23 range. I would think that is a heck of a steal for those. Have the 06's put a hurt on the market of the 05's?

Thanks,
Mark

I think a there were a few stealers that had more inventory than expected at the end of the year, I had a chance at a silver one the day i bought the 06, and it was a very tempting deal at 23.5K, but I really had my heart set on that  06 once I saw it, and while I was hemin and hawin a guy came in and swiped it out from under my nose.

That's a real deal.  What dealer did you get it from.  I've gotta shop for my wife's new bike and if they are dealing below msrp on CVOs that's the place I want to shop.

If you are speaking of the "black box thingy" (interface) this is a very important piece. This is what mates your ECM to the RT. If this is lost then you will not be able to create/change maps on your bike (you will have to purchase another RT). Put it somewhere safe, and some have suggested even carrying it with you if you go on trips just in case your map in ECM goes south it's the only way to get a map reinstalled on bike, or if you are at an event and want to have changes made to your bike then dyno tuned you will have to have this.

Brent, all new motors require proper break in procedure to seat the rings and other critical components, the first 50 miles are usually the most critical. read your owners manual, there is a section on proper break in procedure, and the do's and do not's for the first 500 mi. A lot of people have different opinions on this subject, but if you go by the book, it says not to exceed 3000 rpm in any gear for the first 50 miles, after that the book says stay under 3500 rpm for the first 500 miles.

[size=12]I did all the break in part properly.
