blown head gasket
« on: June 20, 2010, 04:53:20 AM »

well i guess i jinxed myself bragging these 2.5 yrs about how solid my 110" is

front jug has blown head gasket on left side

question:  how many 110" owners have run bikes with blown head gaskets for long periods without serious engine damage?

Is it just an oil leak. or blown to the point of loosing compression?

If you're just leaking oil, it is just a nuisance until you fix it.  If you are loosing compression, don't ride it until repaired...

I made a 3k trip with a seeping head gasket just watched the oil level. And last year came back from the Solvang trip with a chirper head gasket, just waited for it to swell up and quit chirping before taking off. Don't want to take off with it chirping or you can do damage.

Very Simple............
If you're losing the slightest bit of compression, you will torch a valley/trough to more than likely a stud hole, and also undercut the aluminum beyond the liner. >:(

If you're certain it was bad you should be equally as certain it still should be fixed.

Well, how did you actually find out that "front jug has blown head gasket on left side" ?
And than take you decision from there ...

Ride safely,
Louis

PS: All things being equal it is typically the rear cylinder to act up first.
