The extended warranty is a definite plus for resale.  As much as I enjoy my CVO bike sooner or later I am going to sell it. (probably buy another CVO)
I try to predict how long I will own it and add a year or two extra  for the extended warranty.  Are the warranties a good deal.  Of course not, as the actuaries have computed the costs associated with each policy and have added a mark-up for profit.  However,The premium I pay for the Warranty I believe comes back to you with the ease of selling your bike. Thus, I do it anyway.

When I got my lil banana I bought full extended warranty. I called Chicago Harley and got price from them after JCZ let me know you can purchase anywhere. I then told my dealer I would love to get thru them if they can match CHD, They actually beat them by $5. I believe I paid $1045 with tire coverage too. So, if your looking it may pay to shop around and then see if your dealer will match. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Anyone have a good lead on a dealer that will discount the HD warranty? Nobody I've checked will budge a dime.

I too bit the bullet for 7 years of coverage with  tire coverage.

Why hold back the bike was ten times more than my first FLH in 76.  $3,500.00 back then.

I thought that I read on another forum that the 20% off dealers also offered the extended warranty at 20% off.

I was suprised that my dealer barely mentioned the extended warranty. He only did after I had already paid for the bike. I looked at it, but it bothers me that the original factory warranty is included in the extended one. Meaning a 7 year warranty only extends the period 5 years. Just makes it sound better. I didn't buy one yet and probably won't, BUT, if I was going to, it would be the HD one, and not an outside vendor service contract.

One of the many things that bothers me about "extended warranties" is the sleazy way they are sold and often misrepresented.

Chicago HD will give it to you for 20% discount.  I told my dealership and once they confirmed it, I got it for 15% discount below the price originally quoted.  A smart dealership will know that a small profit is better than no profit. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]
