So where were you, and what event was it? 

North Carolina HOG Rally in Charlotte.
Rally was held at Harley Davidson of Charlotte.

Not undercover.
We set up a "Town Hall" meeting on the rally site for him, the plant manager from York and Arnie Beaman to answer questions from the rally attendees.

Lots of good answers.
The man seems sincere, only time will tell.

A great opportunity to give your opinions and say your piece. 

I spend a lot of time with guys at his level.  It's not uncommon for them to listen closer in these encounters than they listen to their own employees.  Things they hear "on the road" tend to stick.

Hopefully he heard things that will cause him to ask questions of his team.

I am pretty sure he did not like letting all those workers go.

However a company, be it Harley or any other company has to make a profit, and has to make it's share holders happy.  If Production is down a lot due to people not buying bikes, you can not continue to pay people to do nothing.  The company looses money.

That is part of what hurt the American car companies, Union forcing them to keep several thousand employees on the payroll even when they were not needed and just sitting there collecting a check.

I hope this man, earns his money and helps keep Harley going another 100 years.  I hope he figures out how to get younger customers into buying a harley.  I hope with lower production he can put more focus on quality.

I met him this past Saturday and got about 30 minutes to talk with him.
He was very interesting and seems to be trying to get the MOCO on track.

I hope that you had an oppertunity to give him a card for this site and encouraged him to "feel the pulse" of what "real" consumers of his product are saying.
