From Phoenix to Williams Arizona and we stay overnight. Williams is one of the places in the west that still boasts Route 66 fun and lives up to it. Cowboy shootouts and live guitar players. The Grand Canyon Railway also leaves from here.
The next morning we shake off our hangover and make our way to the South rim. During the summer it is quite busy and parking is scarce. Wait it out, folks come and go regularly.
We had lunch at the restaurant at Bright angel lodge then off to more sight seeing.
Once you leave the Park on the East side it is a fairly lonely ride to Lees Ferry but well worth the trip. The Lodge at Marble Canyon/Lees Ferry is "Rustic" and the food is......well, "Rustic as well". A gas station with beer n wine helps ! Here you will witness one of the most stunning sunsets in the west surrounded by Vermilion Cliffs National Park.
Breakfast and fuel and of to the North rim. The ride has it all. Curves, straights, hills, trees, deer......dayum life is good!
Before you enter the park there is a fuel stop, store, restaurant and damn fine pies n' such. If not on your way in then make sure you stop on your way out. Oh, fudge and cookies too!
The North rim is less traveled due to the short season it is open. DO NOT come to the Grand Canyon without making time to go north! There is much more to see and do with time. Maybe on our next trip or one of yours we can share the "MORE" with everone. Ride Safe and Have Phunn!
