MP3 CD skips tracks on FLHTCUSE4
« on: June 26, 2010, 05:25:37 AM »

Hi Chaps

A problem that's getting me down.

First time I burnt an mp3 CD for my Ultra all fine.

Done a new one and various tracks miss.

Tried getting rid of artwork, burning as a data disc etc,.

Any advice?

I have a 09 SERG and I'm having the same problem. I burn discs and they play fine everywhere else but they skip in the sooter. I talked to the dealer about it and they keep saying it because it's a home made CD.

Of course they'd say that!  Try buying a CD in MP3 format. You CAN'T Find them!  But they still sell the feature on the HK sterios. Ask the dealer to provide a comercially available CD in MP3 format to prove its not the HK CD player.

the CD should never skip.

Most common problems:
    Broken fairing brackets
broken damper assembly in CD drive
    Bad SDRAM (40 second buffer)

Not to mention scratched discs, condensation, etc...

Skipping CD's are a sign of a problem and the dealer should never blow you off. Home made is no excuse.

New CD, shows the track for a second and then doesn't play, always the same tracks.  Feels like something the player doesn't like about particular tracks.  Burn is done with Itunes.

something on those tracks is being seen by the CD drive as not an MP3 file.

And how can you check or solve this kind of problem ?
My CD player read the normal CD but the MP3 CD are read correctly as long as the engine is not running otherwise it just can't read properly! :-\

MP3 files are harder for the drive to read, so they will show any defect first. Issues when the bike is running is obviously vibration caused. My guess is either fairing brackets (which you can check) or the SDRAM circuit is having a cold solder issue.

Listen to Iron Cross.

I would give someone else the CD to try.  That will prove one way or the other if its the radio or CD.

ran in to the same thing. drove me crazy as my truck cd would play all songs where the hk unit wouldn't. :nixweiss:

i backed up all songs in library to cd's in the m4a format, took 8 cd's. imported again making sure it was mp3 encoded (import settings). created playlist using mp3 version, then burned a cd in mp3. :2vrolijk_21: got 110+ songs on a cd and doesn't skip a one.
i had a small library when i did this so wasn't too bad.

good luck

TN

edit: just burnt another playlist with sucess

I had that issue when I tried to put too many songs on one CD......reduced the number by about 20% and it plays fine.
I'm using cheap CD's and junk music, so, I expect to only get about 100 songs on a CD.....JMO
