on the positive side no more cam chain tensioners to wear out or fail. they claim a small hp increase. cons- noisy when hot. ck your crank run out before installing the gear drive..they will be worry free if your a high miler. if you dont ride the miles dont bother :bananarock:

No need for them on the 07up TC
Crank runout is a strong driver against using them, plus the new roller chain setup is proven reliable and accurate.

...only one failure posted with the new system. I haven't seen any gear drives failing.  Doc

I just tore my 131 down and checked out the tension pads and they were badly gouged on the outboard side on both but prolly because of the cam bearings being trashed as I only had 8k miles on the motor.

At 20K miles they replaced the shoes on my 09 SEUC.
But I guess 20K is better than the 8K they say the electrical connections should be checked.
Will check mine again at 40K. (by the end of the summer)

We don't advocate the use of gear-drives on the later model machines, and agree with Don.
The hydraulic cam chain set-up works like a champ. :)

Mine failed on my 09 SECUSE. Made noise almost from day one. Long story short, they replaced the cam tensioners and it fixed the problem. I "think" it had something to do with them being oil pressured and the seals were faulty therefore not allowing enough pressure buildup for the tensioners to keep tension on the chain??? Can anyone verify this?

Yes for most of the grinds
I strongly recomend truing and welding the crank if you run gear drive.
If you happen to be one of the few that have a late model with less than .002 TIR (the high side of allowable runout to use gear drive effectively) and you put gears in a stock bottom end you are playing with fire IMHO

Go to the web site and look around.  Or call Bob Wood himself, 205-525-4949.  He also can be reached by email:
bob@woodcarbs.com  but you'll have better luck getting a prompt reply if you call on the phone.  And yes, many of his cams are offered in all the different drive configurations, chain/gear/or belt.   http://www.woodcarbs.com/06-10cams.htm
