Hog tunes vs J&M
« on: June 29, 2010, 10:43:59 AM »

I had hogtunes speakers in my 06, sound fine; no problems. So when I got my 09, and I put J&M 7.25 in the front it just didn't sound all the great . I stuck with it for a year, I just got some hogtunes speakers and installed them today. what a difference  :bananarock: :apple: :jalapeno: :cucumber: :pineapple: :pepper: Some may disagree, and maybe better products out there; but I'm sticking with hogtunes.

I had Hog Tune speakers in my SEEG and I was happy with them.

On my SESG I have stock speakers with the Hogpod tweeters and it has very good sound however, now you have me wondering........how much would that improve with the Hog Tune speakers.  Are you using the Hog Tune external amp, as well??

I don't have any experience with the J&M product.  I've heard the Hawg Wired and unless you're adding more speakers, I don't think it's worth the increase in cost and they seem to have a higher tone and less bass. :nixweiss:

JCZ I'm using the stock HD amp. The J&M to speaker to (me), is just a funnel with a small magnet.

Your signature shows that you also have the Hogtunes Hogpods.

Just to be clear, you're using Hogtunes speakers and the Hogpods?

Not in my opinion.  There are those that would tell you yes.  That could be because I'm gettin old and my hearing is not what it once was...........or because they're telling you yes because they've already spent the money. Take your pick.        :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:

Mine, hawg wired...it rocks by the way...

Input Channels: 2 High/Low Level
Output Channels: 2 Channels
Nominal Output Impedance: 4 ohms
Nominal Power Output (Watts RMS): 150 Watts (75Wx2)
Frequency Response: 10Hz-50kHz
Low Level (RCA Line-In) Sensitivity: 200MV – 6V
High Level (Speaker-In) Sensitivity: 400MV – 12V
Input Impedance: 33K ohms
PSC1502 Dimensions: 6.50”W x 3.75”D x 1.50”H

Hogtunes new 902.2/Amp kit...the Hogtunes amplifier makes 32 watts per channel ....
Cant find Freq resp, impedance or sens data for hog tunes

its all about the power but the hawg wired is almost 2x as much dinero..

Have the Hog Tunes Hog pod and amp and speakers on the Street Glide.  There maybe better out there, but these are clear and crank.  Maybe a dog could notice the difference, but I couldn't.

I have the upgrade hogtune speakers, stock amp and tweeter bar. It sounds great. Ordered the J & M speakers and amp today from Shawn. I asked him if i was not completely satisfied if i could return and he agreed. I sure hope i want to keep the J & M setup. Should be here on Saturday or Monday. Will let you know if it is worth it.

I installed my J&M kit yesterday.  Very good sound, and decent volume.  Just got off the super-slab at 95+ with the volume at slightly les than half and heard every note.
The mids are very crisp, of course they could use more base (mini bazooka?), and for the cost, might be hard to beat.

The install was  a piece of cake, everything fit with no issues, and Dr. V Twin was a pleasure to work with.

Satisfied for now!!

I have "Hog Tunes" on my 05,06, had them on my 09SEUC. On the SEEG I have the Hog Pod, the lowers speakers with the amp, and the hog tunes in the fairing, I also installed J&M Foam pad after the original install,, and it made a big difference.
I have been buying from Pez and his company for a long time, and I can tell you that his level of customer service is absolutely 5STAR!!

It's interesting that neither Hogtunes nor Hawg-Wired have introduced larger than OEM size (5.25") fairing speakers.  In the case of HT, a pretty good explanation for NOT introducing larger than stock speakers with test data is posted on their website; here's the link:

http://www.hogtunes.com/techzone_files/Larger_fairing%20_speakers1.pdf

Intuitively, the HT comparison of larger than stock speakers pushing sound through the OEM fairing holes to NASCAR restrictor plates as a means of reducing power is plausible.  As for the test data, the larger than stock speakers aren't identified, but the information on useable sound on a motorcycle in motion (i.e. not parked) confirmed what I'd heard about PEZ's research and design of his speakers.

Sound is, of course, a matter of personal taste.

Any update on this install?  How did it compare to your hogtunes setup?
