Need help with tunning....
« on: July 11, 2010, 02:23:51 PM »

My set up = Vance + Hines True Duals with Hi-Output Slip-Ons - 211 Cams + Screaming Eagle Race Tuner.
Sometimes below 22m RPM - when driving in the city I get a bucking  or sputtering.
Does any one have this same set up?
My SG was tuned , then retuned, but still sputtering..
The first tune Max Power =93.74 + Max Torque = 108.81
My SG runs fantastic on the Hiway
If some has the same set up as mine can you please help with tunning?

What gear are you running in below 2,200 RPM? If it's anything but first, you're probably lugging the motor. That's pretty low RPM.
That being said, can you provide your AFR numbers? Sounds as if you're lean off idle...

either First gear or second, ( this happens when I am slowing for a light or slowing down to go around a corner.)
Stan has an 09' Roadglide with the same setup and is having the exact same problem (same dealer)
Air\Fuel on my dyno sheet is just below 12
Thanks for trying to help

Sounds like you and Stan need to find a real professional tuner who tunes for all riding conditions, not just wide open throttle.  If your dealer can't or won't fix it, have him give your money back for the crappy tune and find someone who knows what they're doing.  Just because someone took the one day DynoJet class doesn't mean they're a tuner.

The AFR on your dyno sheet is at wide open throttle (and if it's really less than 12:1 like you indicated it's way too rich).  What you need to know is what the AFR and timing is for the conditions where you have the problem.  Are you sure this dealership actually put the bike on a dyno and attempted to tune it, or did they just load a canned map from the disk?

I just lived this nightmare from day one of my 2008. Ultimately resolved with the Zippers Thunder Max Throttle By Wire model- target AFR is 13.4. No more bottom end crap and the new power band ends at 6,100 rpm. Since I may never pay for a dyno again if and when a dyno-trailer comes to town I  may get numbers but I will not pay for the amateurs working at the vast majority of H-D dealers that are Dyno Techs-NOT! One our local dealers does NOT have a dyno, hence, they are not "tuners"!
Makes it pretty simple here!

My bike does the same thing. My set up is differant. I have a 2010 seuc with Andrews 54 cams, .030 head gaskets, heavy breather, super pro tuner, and D&D fatcat. Run the same way, back fires and hesitates between 1500 and 2000 rpm. Will even do it when not riding and just idling and I at time have to feather the throttle to get it to raise the rpms with out back firing. Above 2000 rpm it runs strong. I took my bike back three time to the local dealer and now have taken it to a dealer who claims they can tune it?
If they can't get it running right I might put the stock cams back in.  For the small gain in performance I'm not sure this is worth the hassle.  I think some of the dealerships are behind or fall short on tuning expertise.

Not sure what the difference is between the 211 cam and the Andrews 54 cam?

Good luck I don't hav emuch to offer but found it strange our bikes run very similar?

There is no reason you guys should be having the problems you have. There are many similar builds such as yours running around here.
If you have a 110 with 54 cams or for that matter just about ANY common combination, and are using the TTS software, give Steve a call at: 928-505-2912 (Fullsac).
He has had many of these bikes on his dyno and can really help with dialing it in. The low speed/rpm stumble should NOT be there. These bikes can and do run fantastic without any drama, we have quite a few around here that can prove that. YOUR bikes WILL run properly once the little issues are sorted out!
Both my '09 and my '10 ran awesome after a session with the TTS and Steve's help.
I hope you get your bikes running the way they should, you will have that smile on your chops riding down the road!!  :2vrolijk_21:
