Drill a small hole through the center of the reflector and use a hook to pull it out. Once you get the first piece out you will be able to pick the rest out with a pick or small screwdriver from the center out so you won't scratch the latches on the edges. Then use goo gone to get the double side tape residue off of the latch. Then clean REALLY REALLY well (alcohol works) before you put the new inserts in.

there's a better way, takes 15 seconds..........

get out your dental floss. loop the floss behind one corner of the reflector (you may need to use a business card to push it behind and get it started), grab the ends of the floss in each hand and pull it all the way thru to the other end, and bam, its done in a heartbeat.

HD Dude gave me the skinny, so I have him to thank. Have done several friends now. its so easy its ridiculous :coolblue:

If the DMV work got done and the lien is in place, then the bike should be yours. The only thing that I am thinking is if the dealer tells the bank that they did not get the required down payment that might void the loan...or would the dealer be on the hook for releasing the bike to you....I'm not sure how that would work :confused5:

It is/was incumbent upon the dealership to get the down payment on the loan, not the bank.  The dealer is on the hook for the $3K.  They "forgot" to tell the customer, and are now trying to cover their butts.  IMO the dealer eats it and he doesn't need to return the bike.  It may piss the dealership off, but that's not his problem.

I was getting ready to say congratulations, awsome bike etc. until I read the whole thread. I hope it works out and you can keep the bike. It's an awsome ride and my hope is for you to enjoy it as much as I have mine. I'll be anxious to read the outcome.

Great color choice on the bike!  My advise on the dealer, spend a couple hundred bucks and lawyer up :2vrolijk_21:

here is the update as of today. looks like they are sending new paperwork out for me to sign. i haven't seen the figures so we will see but they doctored the numbers to make it come out and my payment will go down. guess we will see. i have since installed the saddle bag latch inserts (the dental floss is the way to go)! i also got my floor board extensions and fairing bags installed. hope to have my boom cans installed before i leave for sturgis in a week!!!

thanks to everyone for the feedback, advice, and concerns. i probably would have returned the bike if not for everyone telling me how to handle the situation! i just thought i was screwed, turns out with the advice i had the control. and yes i stll think the spiced rum is the best color!! :jalapeno:
