I was looking at this model this AM on the website, and is it me, or does this have the FLHXSE front fender?  It's hard for me to say definitively, but when I compare it to the FLHXSE and the FLTRSE, I'm pretty sure it has the pared version.

Had to go back and look but it does look like the Ultra and the StreetGlide CVO bikes have a slightly smaller front fender than the CVO RG Ultra. The RG fender looks to come up slightly above the fork covers while the UC and SG fender looks like it just reaches the bottom of the covers.

I do not see any reason that it will not work with the 550 or any GPS with an external stereo output port. The kit does not mute the radio's output it just lowers the volume of the radio when a turn direction signal is present. This being the case you would not be able to MP3 or XM via the GPS, which is why they include the cable to connect the GPS to the AUX input. At least that is how I see it working, without the kit this is just my quess.

OK, Jim - I am now in possession of the kit.  I've emailed you the instructions and wiring diagram for your perusal, and I'd be interested in your comments as to whether you think it possible to make it work with the Bluetooth kit....

The module part itself is potted, so can't see what's in there.

One interesting thing, though: it says that it's for the Zumo 665, but "can be used with a 660 after a software <i.e. firmware> update to 3.70 or later."  As the output from the Zumo is simple stereo audio via the jack, it's hard to comprehend what difference the firmware rev of the Zumo can make, and indeed why it's restricted to the 660/665 at all.... (Mine is a 550...)

Look forward to your comments once you've seen the wiring diagram, Jim.

Cheers,

Jim

It quotes that it is compatible with the 665 and the 660 if used with version 3.70 or later because the 665 was released with the features used in the 660 v3.70.  Not sure what feature they refer to, but the two run different but parallel software, and evidently even the earliest 665s had what v3.70 added to the 660.

Yes, I know that, Lew. Doesn't tell us why different firmware would stop it working with the kit though.   It's a simple audio input....   Maybe that the output level of the Zumo was changed with that rev, or something.

Does anyone know if the Garmin interface cable has room to be mounted in the front fairing if you have the Hawg wired four in the face system they tell me there is no room because of the amps that are installed.
Is this true has anyone done it? I would love to get rid of that cable that they used on the black 2010 CVO Ultras.

The cable I am talking about trying to install is the.
Harley-Davidson® Road Tech™ zumo Navigation Systems. The Navigation Interface Module will provide an integrated link between the fairing-mounted Advanced Audio Radio and a Road Tech™ zumo 660 or 665 GPS Navigator.
I appreciate the help from anyone that knows.

I have the kit here, (Though sadly it looks like I can't use it!)  :(   It is intended to be mounted inside the fairing, but it's small, and I'm sure you could easily move where it was mounted.  I'll PM you a copy of the instructions if you want to read through it - let me know.

So you are telling me that you didn't have room in the front fairing for it? What have you added in the fairing if anything?

Errr...... no. Why on earth do you think that?   :nixweiss:

What I am telling you is that:

1) Yes, it is intended to be mounted inside the fairing
2) It is small and I'd be surprised if you couldn't move where you mounted it

As I said, if you want me to PM you the instructions, let me know.

Yes thank you Harley just says that since I put the Hawg wired amp and the little amps for the rear speakers that they won't fit. It doesn't look that big. Sorry for the miss understanding I thought you were telling me the same thing. If you can PM me the instructions I will look at it maybe I need to just do it myself was it hard?

I haven't fitted it - the kit is no good for me, as I use the Bluetooth kit, and the two won't work together.

The mounting brackets are probably what they are saying you don't have room for, but the actual gizmo is very small - you could easily find space for it even if it won't mount where the brackets are meant to go.

I'll pm you the instructions....
