Flush mount fuel cap and gauge kits
« on: August 06, 2010, 02:49:05 AM »

I have just put my name down for a 2011 FLSTSE scarlet, not sure why they have only fitted stock fuel gauge and cap (apart from cost). Has anyone fitted the flush mount fuel cap and gauge kits?

I've seen quite a few of you guys installing these kits.  Are they hard to install?  Do you have to remove the tank or any other major dis-assembly?  Thanks.

RC, I have to admit, I did not install these caps myself.  I attached a link to the MoCo's instruction sheet for proper install.  It looks like you can leave the tank on.

Hope this helps!

I read something in the instruction link that I didn't like. It's about the fuel pump icon. I really don't want that thing on all the time!! I know it's the Fuel Gauge. WTF!!!

OPERATION
See Figure 11. When the gauge receives power, all the blue
LEDs (1) will illuminate and will turn off one at a time until the
approximate fuel level in the tank is displayed.
The fuel pump icon (2) is illuminated at all times during operation.
The fuel pump icon is not a low fuel level warning light.

What do you guys think the black kit would look like on the Orange/black? Seems pretty simple to install but I see no reason to disconnect the battery first. I think that's just an overboard safety thing with HD.

Gents,

this is easy and straight forward to install, can be done in 30 min. I did with my orrange one as well,. No difference in operation compared to the stock one.

Mine is on order from Jenny. It might be here today. I'll post the results when I get it done. Maybe I'll take some pictures too and post the install.
