I set my bike up with V&H duals and the Classic turn down mufflers. I'd never used these mufflers before, but I have ridden behind them and thought they sounded good and not too loud. They do sound excellent, but are just too loud for this old fart. Some pipes can be loud at idle and open throttle, but quieten down at cruise, but these don't. My wife and I rode almost 200 miles Saturday and we are convinced they need to be changed. And she likes loud pipes! We've always been able to converse back and forth, but not with these pipes. Today I thought I would pull a baffle and see if maybe I could add some packing. Har, Har. The baffle is all of 5.75 inches long. Damn, that's the shortest baffle I've ever seen. I had the Mikuni PAT baffles once and they were a little over 12" long.
Anyway, what now? I'm seriously thinking about a Supertrapp Supermeg. I'm not real keen on the 2 into 1 on a bagger, but I'm starting to think that's a good option for quiet, tuneable power. From what I've read, I can tune the pipe for the sound I want, then have the bike dynoed, and still be able to change sounds for trips, etc, without seriously effecting the tune. Most of the other 2 into 1's are too loud, so my choices are somewhat limited. I did put my stockers on the dual headers to see what that sounded like. Let's just say they didn't stay on there very long. So, anybody here run a S-T or have any ideas for some fairly quiet power? S&S SPO's are out for the looks.
Thanks for helping me spend some more cash. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
