First thing to try is to re-marry the two pieces again.  If that doesn't work it's a coin toss unless you've got a way to isolate one from the other.

There is nothing magic about the signal from the receiver to the door opener. It is a momentarily closed contact. If you just short the two terminals on the opener that the HD receiver is connected to it should operate the door. This will be the same two terminals that your wall button is hooked to. I have used the same HD reciever and several transmitters on 4 different bikes for around 5 years now with no problems.

True.  Shorting the contacts on the GDO motor itself, however, does nothing to let you know whether the system problem is the bike mounted transmitter or the receiver connected to the GDO.

My GDO has gone out twice, the first time I took the fairing off and reseated all the connectors and reprogrammed it and it started
working.... I don't remember unplugging the receiver from AC.... Thought it just may be a loose connection.

The second time it quit I basically did the same thing BUT that did not fix it. Tried programming it several times did not fix.  While trying to program I accidentally unplugged the wall unit from AC power and after plugging it back in and reprogramming it the unit started working great.   SO what I think I would try first is to unplug the receiver which plugs into the AC wall outlet and leave it unplugged for a bit and plug it back up and then try to reprogram it.  When I flip the high / low switch I can hear the relay click in the receiver and the LED will flash.

Hope this helps.
