I too had modest expectations when I rode in for the visit; was on Princess Anne Rd. on my way to the beach house; saw a sign and decide to stop by.

You enter a very large, atrium center portion, with the aircraft hangers on either side.  The center has the V-1 rocket, BMW cycle, etc.  Suspended from the atrium is an upside down bi-plane with a Snoopy dummy in cockpit.

The entire display area, aircraft, and exhibits were pristine--white glove pristine.

Great pictures, what route did you take, I love in the Atlanta area as well, and I'm interested in going.

Great pictures, what route did you take, I love in the Atlanta area as well, and I'm interested in going.

It was nearly 600 miles:  Roswell to Cedar Island NC via I-20, etc.    Then a 2.5 hour ferry from Cedar Island to south end Ocracoke Island; .5 hour ferry from north end of Ocracoke to Hatteras; and, the rest north to Sandbridge Beach VA.

Cool pics and a cool museum. The VA. Beach museum and some of the planes have been featured on the TV show Great Planes.  Here is a link,  http://military.discovery.com/tv/great-planes/great-planes.html

Love seeing this stuff, thanks. It blows me away to think of how many man hours went into the restoration.
