« on: August 20, 2010, 09:32:36 AM »

Has anyone had the chance to try these new Plugs. I am hearing allot of rave about them but would like to get some feedback. Its just a spark plug but the new technology is suppose to be excellent.

Well I bought a set of them Sat and yesterday rode 350 miles.I have to say there is quite an improvement on gas mileage. I would say about a 10% improvement on overall gas mileage. I have always believed a plug is a plug but these plugs have some new tecnology that really is noticable over any plug I have ever used.

All I need is my plugs, sweater, and spray on hair... and it's "watch out ladies"!

So after several dozen other "miracle" plugs that promise to give you increased horsepower (some tests show up to 37%), and mileage never before seen, whiter teeth, fresher breath, and a reduction in cavities, somebody has come up with one that actually works?  Doubt it.  In the pursuit of a 3% gain in mpg that costs millions to car companies, if someone actually made a plug that did anything it would be in every car made.  Remember Split-fires - the plug that wold revolutionalize the world?  Can you even buy them anymore?  I know they had to remove the power and mileage improvement claim from their advertizing.  A spark plug is a nail with an insulator around it, and of the two the insulator is the more important.  If you have worn plugs and replace them - with anything - it will make a difference.  So far nobody has been able to show any significant improvement over a new basic plug.  Get a set that lasts more than twenty thousand miles and worry about something worthwhile.

There is nothing special about the Blue Lightning plugs other than the claim that they've been deep frozen (cryogenics).  There is no scientific proof that such cryogenic treatment will do anything to improve combustion, so any perceived increase in performance or mileage is much more likely to be related to replacing worn plugs with new ones (that would show an improvement regardless of the brand), or maybe advertising induced self delusion.  There is no magic elixir for spark plugs, if there were you can bet the auto companies would have jumped all over it to improve mileage to meet CAFE standards.

This particular group doesn't even do a great job of hyping their product.  If you want to see a great marketing job, look up the Pulse Star plugs. I've read some ads from these folks that would make a corpse jump up and head to the phone to place an order.    http://www.enerpulse.com/
