Great news Troy,

Is your wife's back doing better?  Can she ride with you?

Take care..............

Jeff

Jeff,

Yes, my wife is doing great.  In fact, we rode about 1500 miles a few weeks ago (had to get some miles in before my surgery).  She can usually ride for a couple of hours before she needs to get off and walk around.

Well, got a surprise the other day.  I guess this is like "Crying Wolf" in reverse.

When I had surgery three weeks ago, the doc said it didn't look like there was any cancer, but they would get a full pathology report to make sure.  I figured that was just the usual doctor talk.

The doc said that the pathology report was "complicated".  They had to send it to the University of Pittsburg.  The report showed that there was cancer... in fact, two types of cancer.

So, I will be having surgery again next week... probably Friday.  This really stinks... now I have to pay the co-pay or deductible or whatever again $$$$ (wife says I'm too much of a tightwad).

If this surgery goes as well as the last, I will be up and running again within a couple of days.  From what I have been told, I will have to have a single dose of radioactive iodine sometime after surgery.  This will stay in my system for a few days.
Then.... hopefully.... for real this time... this will be over and done.  I know there will probably be a few test in the future to make sure that there is no cancer hiding somewhere else, but shouldn't be a bid deal.

Anyway, I'm not to concerned.  Way too busy to spend anytime worrying about this.  Will try to give an update when the dust settles... maybe even a pic of the fresh scar for Don  :D

A few of you know that I have had a health concern from another thread.  A few ask that I keep them posted on how things progress.

Maybe the "Rider Down" section is a better place for this thread, but I think the "Off Topic" section is better suited for this report.... because I'm not down.

To recap: my doc discovered a couple of tumors on my thyroid gland.

Long story short, I went into surgery yesterday morning with the possibility that the tumors could be malignant and that the surgeon would have to remove the whole thyroid gland.  The surgeon removed the right side of my thyroid and sent it to pathology while I was still in surgery to determine if the left side needed to be removed.

The good news is that there was NO CANCER and got to keep the left side of my thyroid gland.  This means no treatments either.  As far as I know, when I finish healing, this is another closed chapter in my life.

Had to spend the night in the hospital and came home this afternoon.  Tried, before surgery, to talk the doc out of the over-night stay, but he and my wife won out.  In retrospect, the doc was right... my neck was pretty sore when I woke up.

This was an answer to prayers!

Like I said, I'm not down... just slowed for a few days

LRebel ;)
