and we ended the day in Steamboat Springs, 500+ miles and two (we both got one each) speeding tickets in south central Wyoming later in the day....we tried to humor the Trooper with the tale of the shifter woes but it didn't work. Actually maybe it did, instead of 82mph in a 55mph he made them 82mph in a 65mph zone.
He made his final destination of Denver yesterday morning, I got back home to Coeur d Alene, ID this afternoon.

That's not the first home made jockey shifter I ever saw Keith.  While I do have vise grips in the tool bag I don't keep a broom stick.  Nice pre-planning :huepfenlol2: !

The zip ties worked great and I always carry a few extra. The electrical tape was just for decoration  :huepfenjump3:

Don, the pvc pipe came from True Value hdwe in Cody, fortunately it was open. By the time we got to Meeteetse, WY (can anyone tell me why that town was in the news recently?) we had to cut the pipe cause the wind over the lower fairing was beating it back and forth on the fuel tank. We stopped at the only gas station in that little berg and asked a couple of cowboys next an old beater Dodge ranch truck if they might happen to have  a hacksaw. But since hunting season was open the only saw either of them had was a meat saw for game in his backback so we used that and it worked fine. After that it was just below the level of the lower fairing and no more slopping around.

In the 1st picture above you can see the tire track in the middle of the picture on the pavement. It's there because it was just starting to rain/snow/graupel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graupel).

here's the main drag/only block of Meeteese, Wyoming....

That is where they captured one of the Arizona escapees after a lady recognized him in church.
