Problem changing gears CVO Springer 2008
« on: September 13, 2010, 08:47:08 AM »

Hi guys,

I have a 2008 CVO Springer, 6 months ago I upgraded the clutch with SE RACE CLUTCH # 37976-08 & SE PERFORMANCE CLUTCH KIT / PLATES # 37969-03A.

The bike operated well however in the last month I have been having problems changing gears, not all the time but going back down the gears is worse then going up. Not sure whats happening as sometimes I need to lift the shifter up, down, up and then down for it to click in to gear. When changing gears the leaver feels like there is play in it.

Any ideas?

Two things come immediately to mind.  Check the entire shift linkage for loose parts, especially where the arm connects to the actual shift shaft at the trans, and check the shift pawl centering adjustment lock nut to make sure it hasn't worked loose.
