Dealer has my SG and is installing the 665 with a fairing mount.  I bought the cable that is supposed to integrate it to my HD radio. Questions.

1. The unit is not charging. 12v power in the cable buy it's not making it into the unit. Could be a bad fairing mount bracket from Garmin.

2.  Lots of static in XM. Told it was the XM antenna mounted on the J&M amp. Relocated and fixed.

3. XM is plugged into the aux port on front of radio. Website says cable I bought eliminates that need. Dealer tells me HD tech says you've got to plug it into frog of radio even with the integration cable.

Any help appreciated, especially point 1. I

Not sure what kind of cable you bought or what it accomplishes if you still have to plug the XM into the aux port on the radio. They definitely have something wrong if you have no power. I bought the Road Tech unit, wiring it came with was great, easy to hook up, took less than an hour inc fairing removal.
Sounds like PHD tech has screwed the pooch, or whatever kind of accessory harness you bought is junk.
I assume this " cable buy " means cable "but" is not making it to the unit. Either it is hooked up correctly or not but I seriously doubt a problem with the Garmin part.

It's the nav interface module. Trouble is they aren't getting power to the unit. Also, given the description below, I don't get why they say the Zumo XM output needs to plug into the aux port on the front of the radio. Thanks.

Road Tech™ Navigation Interface Module


Available exclusively for Harley-Davidson® Road Tech™ zumo Navigation Systems. The Navigation Interface Module will provide an integrated link between the fairing-mounted Advanced Audio Radio and a Road Tech™ zumo 660 or 665 GPS Navigator. When linked, the music volume will automatically drop when a GPS spoken command is detected, allowing you to hear the command through the radio speakers or the 7-pin communications-style headset. The module attaches directly to the radio, is concealed within the fairing, and does not require connection to the "AUX" input on the radio faceplate, allowing you to listen to a portable music device through your auxiliary input. You need to have the audio output from the Zumo going to both the Nav module and the Aux input on the radio. The Nav module works only for an navigation prompt. MP3 and or XM output from the Zumo has no effect on the Nav module so in order to hear them you need to have the Aux input connected and the radio has to be in the Aux position. The Nav module comes with a Y connector so that you can connect the Nav and Aux input.

The music will mute when a navigation prompt is detected by the Nav module.

On the website, here's the fitment for the Nav Interface Module:

Fits '06-later Touring models (except FLHXSE2) equipped with the Advanced Audio system and a Road Tech™ zumo 660 GPS Navigator P/N 92115-09 or Road Tech™ zumo 665 GPS Navigator P/N 76000014. '06-later FLHX, FLTR, FLTRX, and FLHTC models and those not equipped with Wiring Harness P/N 70169-06 require the separate purchase of Connector Kit P/N 69200033. Does not fit with Advanced Audio Hands Free Cell Phone Kit P/N 76408-06.

I'd like to find out why it doesn't work on the '11s...

The dash mounting connector was bad. Garmin overnighted a replacement. (BTW, it's a redesign from what came with my unit.). Also, noted on the install sheet but not on the website, an additional part was needed, which my dealer (Liberty Harley) sent a driver to pick up at another dealer due to my pending trip. As bissjim notes, XM plugs into the Aux port on front of radio. It all works like a champ on my SESG.

How did you mount it? I'm thinking chrome Harley bracket permanently on the clutch and the XM antenna somehow temporarily (or removable) on the right handlebar. That means I'll also need a way to temporarily secure the XM antenna wire...

And I guess the XM/MP3 plugged into the Aux port on the front of the HK radio.

Sorry for the tardy reply. I went with the fairing mount, not the handlebar mount. Clean install. XM antenna is inside the fairing. XM radio lead runs behind fairing and out right side fairing at handlebar  to plug into HK aux port.
