3 dealers, 3 opinions
« on: March 14, 2006, 04:16:36 PM »

I did my survey work today regarding a SE 2-1 pipe installation on my 06 103 CVO:

DEALER 1:
"You'll need to re-flash that. We don't have one for the 06 103 but we'll use one that will come close."

DEALER 2:
"That needs to be done with a SERT."

DEALER 3:
"Oh no, you don't need any re-flash or SERT. The 2006 CVO has built in SE software so you can just bolt on the SE parts."

I just love this stuff. DREBBIN

I'd go with dealer #2.  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Or see what #4 has to offer. [smiley=confused5.gif]

What about the SE Stage I air kit? Did they tell you you needed that too?

Actually, you do.  The air cleaner on the CVO Touring models is not the SE stage 1 high flow air cleaner.  What you get is a standard paper filter, and the plastic housing has a few extra holes to let in a little more air.  I suggest a Ness Big Sucker, once they release one for the '06 models, since it comes with a K&N oiled filter.

I do business with two different dealers and I haven't had either of them tell me I could change pipes without the Stage 1 and either a download or the SERT for the ECM.

Hey Drebbin,

Matter of fact I just had SE 2:1 pipes, SE race tuner and SE stage 1 air cleaner installed. Then had it dyno tuned. I have yet to find out how it turned out cause I'm out of the country right now. I'm very anxious to get home and do some riding Monday morning! I'll let you know how it feels!

My thoughts just find a really good tuner and put your money into getting the bike dialed in.
This way your know the motor is dialed in corectly and making full horsepower & torque.
IMHO I don't do well with "I wonder if this will work"

jeffj
I won't disagree.

magic, I sent you a PM concerning fitmit problems with the Supertrapp install.

Drebbin-  could be some of the same issues with the HD version as the brake lever is too wide to accept the heat shield on the ST.

Jeff,
Well, I am not that experienced with the SERT, however, I just keep re-reading the manual and some of the threads here.

That is correct--you can't pull up the contents of the map currently loaded into the ECM.  You need to have it saved on some other media; otherwise, when you load a new map over it, you lose it.  You can, however, read the name of the map which is in there--but if it's been modified and not renamed to identify it as modified, the name could be misleading.
