Can anyone explain this to me?
« on: October 09, 2010, 01:16:19 PM »

This happens to me all of the time when the engine gets hot.

Idling 90% of the time I get the rthym of the traditional "POTATO POTATO POTATO"

But once it is real hot sitting still, the rythm changes to a  "POT POT POT POT POT"

Is this a function of the ECM?

(I do not have the "parade mode" to come on)

This is not a big issue, just wanted to understand what is going on.

Jeff, it's like this.  The higher heat raises the cyclic rate of the duotonic capacitive discharge thermal biosphere (Vtwin variant) quantum plane.  The reductive thermal aperture vents auditory dissipation based on high infrared wavelengths that are directly disproportional to the scale of the sonal discharge relative to the cylinder head temperature.  See.

Is that "medicinal pot", or is that the illegal stuff?  Either way, I don't think you should give pot to your motorcycle.  As for Twolane's response, I think I'll let his brother 'd00d translate that one.

Jerry ;)

btw, I don't have the specs for the '08 and later bikes with EITMS, but if they work similar to the earlier models then as cylinder head temperatures increase the ECM adjusts idle speed (lower rpm), AFR, and ignition timing in an attempt to lower the temps.  This definitely changes the sound, both the level and the cadence.

First I'll have to determine which voice in his head was speaking to him at this particular time. :nixweiss:

That is what I thought it was,

but I really like the RPM change answer.

I just do not buy the duotonic capacitive discharge theory,

everyone knows that the thermal biosphere is actually charging inversely to the thermal expansion of the cyclic rate.

13th law of thermodynamics

DUH!!!!

I offered to hook up one of those up for a past BSR as an accessory to her seat.  Told her she'd have to pay extra for the ride though.  She hit surprisingly hard for a girl....

My 09 classic, (sorry it is not a CVO) idles funny when hot and then when you do a small blurp on the throttle when you go to take off from a light it stalls. :-X
