Riding instructor dies
« on: October 10, 2010, 02:22:47 PM »

This is not a good week for me, a second person known to me has died as a result of a motorcycle accident, this time the guy had much closer connections to me and my family, Claudio was born like me in the Channel Islands, he moved to Switzerland as a boy settling with his family in the mountain region of Engadin, he became a light aircraft pilot funding his hobby by taking tourist up for sightseeing flights around the Alpine area, but his occupation was a driving instructor for both cars and motorbikes. My wife introduced us together because of our origins after I had moved to Switzerland.

On friday he was sitting on the back of a bike giving a lesson to a 32year old lady, for some reason the bike left the road crashing into the train tracks next to the road, the female rider was slightly injured but Claudio was airlifted by Helikopter and later died of his injuries in Hospital

No loss is ever easy, the ones that should have never happened are even tougher.

I've just started reading through many of these "downed rider" threads and was compelled to post to yours.  I'm so sad about many who are and are riding and confronted with unnegotiable circumstances, but am sickened by those who are blindsided or perish at the hands of a less experienced rider like your friend.  I'm so sorry for your loss.
