As you say Randy plays it very close to the vest on his clients and I don't blame him at all.  I would never give up a client's information to some unknown person on the end of the phone or an e mail either, let alone in person.  Great to here about another option if I ever decide to sell the bike.  I have to tell you it is so much fun to tool around on and my wife loves it, I doubt seriously if it will ever get out of my hands unless someone walks up and just has to have it and makes me an offer I could not refuse.  The one thing that I really would like to have for my own pleasure is the magazine with the article in it.

Contact the magazine directly via the information inside on one of the 1st couple of pages. If you know the date/# of the issue you want, you can most likely buy it from their subscription dept.

Well, got my first opportunity to work on the bike yesterday.  License plate light hidden behind rear fender which was glued to a bracket, came loose, tire grabbed it pulled out the plastic housing.  Took about two seconds to stop after I heard a crunch, that was me running over the plastic housing.  Wires were ripped loose as well.  I now know how to take off the rear lower fender and and repair the rear lights.  Went with LED's instead of bulbs you have to change that you cannot reach.  At least it was a simple fix this time.

I frenched a plate into a custom FXR I built and that was the big issue for me. The dish for the whole works just cleared the tire and if any work was needed, it was - - - well words I'm not supposed to use on this forum  ;)

Anyway, sorry to read of this and hopefully there won't be many more such asspains. I do know that Randy built this bike to be ridden. It was not built as a show bike. The person Randy built it for finds himself in the news just by waking up in the morning, I doubt he's into showing off things he buys.

I think it was just a fluke, I know how hard it is to get the wires down to a license plate light when they are frenched in and keep them away from the tire.   The next time I have the opportunity to work on it, I will remove the fender, glass a flexible tube in place for the wires and make everything quick disconnect so if there ever is an issue it can be handled without disassembly.
I imagine the previous rider rode the bike with the air pressure low to make the bike look good and the tire rubbed the metal plate creating enough heat to loosen anything that held the plastic light on.  No big deal, just one of those things I did not know to look for.  Randy built one heck of a bike with this one, everything is great, would like to see more of his creations, appears to be a first class builder and manufacture of parts for the conversion.

Bike rides and handles like a dream, it will be ridden, as a matter of fact my wife is seriously thinking about riding again so I may lose it to her.

That's pretty cool, but waaaay above my paygrade.  I'd surely fall over trying to back the scooter up thru some crowded bar parking lot.  Or something like that.   har.  spyder

Very bored, do not like being under house arrest due to the weather.  Should be nice enough to ride either Sunday or Monday, so since Sunday is a narrow chance I decided to take Monday off so I have two chances to ride.
