Anyone got the installation instruction sheet they could post.  I'd like to see what is involved in the installation.  Must the outer primary cover be removed?

Installation is easy. Yes the outer primary cover must be removed. You then remove the stock nylon shoe and remove the two large screws that hold the adjuster backplate to the inner primary. Keeping the shipping tab in place, you slide the new adjuster under the primary chain and over the center bolt from the stock adjuster. Reinstall the two big screws to the inner primary. Don't forget the locktight   Tighten the center bold (Do not tension the chain by sliding the adjuster up tightly to the chain; install it so that it is just against the chain at whatever notch on the backplate that may be. Remove the shipping plate, flex the chain a couple of times, reinstall your outer primary cover and presto/chango you're done. Couldn't be easier.

Yes, the outer primary cover has to be removed.  Loosen chain, remove old adjuster, install new adjuster, set adjuster, and torque all bolts to specs..  To reinstall primary cover, get a couple of 1/4" x 2 1/2" bolts, cut off the heads, cut slots in the end, and use them for alignment dowels.  Cover goes on a lot easier as well as the gasket.  Apply a few areas of the gasket with grease to help hold gasket in place.  I aslo removed my front foot board and the bolts are a real pain (especially the front inside one that is a 3/8" allen-cut down an allen wrench to gain access inside frame rail).  I got the cover off without removing the front floorboard but was afraid I couldn't get it back on.

 Why would you take the footboard mounting brkt off just to remove the footboard ? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

 I agree that these bolts are the most #@$%^^&&^$%#%$%^& pieces of hardware on the whole bike, but the only time you should need to remove them is to take the INNER primary off on the left and only on the right if one needed replacement. The footboards are attached to these brkts with two small 1/4" thread allen head bolts and a curb nut. If they factory did their usual not funny trick on those and had em both with the allen head on the inside, turn em so the front one faces rear and the rear one faces front and those are easy to deal with as well.

I know the feeling JR, two days ago I didn't even know what an Automatic Primary Chain Tension Adjuster was or even that one existed.
