A question of sound- Fullsac 2.25 vs Rinehart 4" cans
« on: November 09, 2010, 09:38:55 PM »

I may have asked this in someone else's thread, or I might have asked this before...I don't know, but I would like to canvass some opinions.

I am almost set on buying the new Rinehart 4"s....I want some more growl, and I've checked out the sound clips, and they sound great to me.

The thing is, I don't want to spend $500.00 to find out that they sound around the same as my Fullsac 2.25's, because it's hard to tell the sound difference between my bike in real life vs Youtube clips of the Rineys.

Has anyone actually heard them both in person, and can comment on the sound differences between them? Are the Rinehart 4's louder? deeper? the same?

Thanks

Like I said, I don't know if the sound is much different between the 2 to justify the 5 bills- I'm also contemplating the D&D Fat Cat 2-1 with falsee...more bucks, but has a great rep for power and sound....thing is, I'm not sure I want to give up the cooler operating fullsac x pipe with the ceramic coating.

So you are the person that would surely know- can you tell me the differences in sound? Maybe on a scale of 1-10, compare the volume/quality of sound of the fullsac vs rinehart? I'm running the x pipe as well.

got them and i love the sound.   not convinced they are the best performance pipe based on my readings, but you cannot mistake the sound.  this being said, i run the true dual system for 2009 and up.

Awesome POST being that I am facing the same daunting situation.  I recently purchased a 2011 CVO Ultra (Stock).  I live in Arizona where it is hotter than hell this time of the year.  I cannot ride the bike with the CAT!!  The heat is nearly unbearable off the cat up my right leg.  I am almost certainly going with the Fulsac X-Pipe (Scrap the Cat), but I am torn between the Fulsac recore 2.0 and the Reinhart 4" slip ons to complement the xpipe.  I guess what it comes down to is CAN YOU STILL ENJOY THE RADIO with the Reinhart 4" and the xpipe?  Any input would be greatly appreciated as this is a costly upgrade.

The Rinehart's as louder.  They sound great but drown out the radio and I hate riding behind them.  It's all trial and error because what one likes dosen't always match your needs-let us know which ones you settle on and how you like them

Mark--then I guess if we end up re-locating to TX you will need to ride in front of me :)

Besides, I won't know how to get anywhere for a while.....

I did a little trial and error.   Started with the 1.75 fullsac...to quiet for my taste.   Then went to the 2.25 fullsac...a lot better sound.  Deeper and a little louder.   It really didn't have that "harley" sound coming down the rode.   I wanted to keep the stock look, but ended up swithing to the 4" Rineharts.  I couldn't be happier.  A much deeper higer volume sound.  It now sounds like harley.   (I can still hear my stereo).

In the end, it's all about personal taste.

Looks like my old thread has been brought to life.

Ok then, an update...but first of all, let me say when I bought the bike, I was told the Fullsac baffles in the cans were 2.25", however they measure 2" across, so I guess they were really 2" baffles- no wonder they were loud enough for me.

In any case, after a few thousand miles on the Rinehart's, I couldn't be happier with them. They are just short of too loud, which works for me. They sound deep, have a great Harley sound, and sound great at idle, but not too loud for my tastes while cruising. Definitely not obnoxious.

When you go through a tunnel, you can feel the pulses in your chest. I'd say they are winners!
