My inspection sticker was just like yours. I flipped that plate upside down as it was blocking the clear part of the tail light that illuminates the license plate. You have to get low to see it, but it's there. No hassles so far, and my bike has gotten more than a little attention from law enforcement.

I think you really have to be acting like an a@@ for them to pull you over for no visible sticker.  And if you are pulled over for something else...aren't they more concerned if it is currenty anyway?

I have a SERG and was carrying mine in my bag. I asked a Texas DPS officer and he told me it needs to be seen from the rear. He said he would not pull someone over for it but he is not everybody.

In Mass, the sticker goes on the license plate. In NH, they want to place it on the right fork. So, I will do the same thing I do for my boat. I go to my local sign store, but some vinyl sign material, and cut it slightly larger than the insp sticker. I apply the vinyl, then the insp sticker on top of that. The following year, I can remove/peel the whole thing off in seconds without damaging the surface. You can buy the vinyl in any color, I use white for the boat, but will probably use black for the bike or maybe even chrome. A foot of this material will only set you back a few dollars and will be enough to last for years.

So here is where the dealer put it when they prepped my SERG for me to pick it up.

Not sure if covering part of the tail light/trun signal/brake light conforms to the law or not...but it sure did look stupid!

Hawaii uses a bracket to mount inspection stickers above/below the plate.

Looks like this:

Well, they're all nasty looking regardless of where you put 'em.......some much worse than others.  In NC we've been down all those roads from wrapping them around the forks to hiding them under the frame on the chrome placards, etc, etc.  Finally! The ole North State came into the present and computerized the inspection process and tied it to license renewal.  You gotta get the inspection before you can renew the annual license (sticker on the plate) and this way.....no more inspection sticker req'd. on the scooter!  Yee=haw.  spyder

We usually carry the honkin big inspection sticker with the registration, but next year it will have to be displayed. Not sure yet where, some say front fork, to which I say No Friggin Way. Others say near the plate. I don't like any of the brackets either. Just wish they would come up with a small sticker like the registration sticker to put on the plate.

Here in HI you cant renew reg unless the inspection is current... and the inspector must affix the decals to the bike... thats not saying I wouldnt pull the plate off the bike and not put it back on until the next inspection, but it has to be there during the inspection....

Every year the DMV picks a couple of enforcement items.... This year it was DOT lights AND REFLECTORS...

Yep... thos fell off my bike as soon as it drove home into my garage...

I use zip-ties to put them on the bike for inspection now... then the zip ties break right after the inspection sticker is applied to the plate... LOL

Work requires a parking permit/sticker.
I cut a thin Lexan plate to fit under the license plate with a tab exposed to hold the sticker.

Thanks Spyder,
Here is a closer look.
Lexan is easy to work with. Small sheets at Home Depot or Lowes.
Should hold up a while.
