I rode a 2001 electra glide for 60,000 miles with some brackets I built for lowering the floorboards. You do have to be a little more careful about cornering but it is not a serious issue unless you think you are riding a crotch rocket. I lowered mine 1.5" in the rear and 1.25"in the front and also moved them forward about an inch. The  reason the guys charge 440.00 for them is because it takes about 2 days to make a set if you do them individually like i had to. I made about 4 sets in all for people and said forget it. Pain in the ass. I did really love it though and also you can cut the rubber bumpers off your floorboard pads and silicone them down to the tins and gain another 1/2 to 3/4 inch. I have done this on my 2011 SESG.
