Alternative aircleaner?
« on: November 25, 2010, 05:51:31 AM »

I am not happy with the standart aircleaner on my 2009. It heats way too much and burns my tight over the jeans. My fatboy never has this problem. Is there a way to fix it?Should i consider replacing it with something else and then with what? Please help. :drink:

Tight's?   :worthless: That's just not right?  Change to long underwear!

Or, change to a Scream'n Eagle Heavy Breather (snorkel with the cone filter).  That modification made a significant comfort change in my ride.

Here's a picture of mine installed.  It still gets hot, but significatntly reduces the exposure.  I haven't been burned once with the snorkel.

I believe a couple of the Nor-Cal members are running RSD A/c's. Curious if you notice any runnability gains? I like the chrome model even better.

The RSD and Performance Machine covers/breathers are made to match the similar RSD or Performance Machine Wheel spokes. They have some that come a lost closer to matching the spokes of the HD wheels than the one in the photo with the straight 5 spoke pattern. I was looking at them in the display @ Biketoberfest, you could come close to matching your OE wheels if you tried.

I always liked this simple five spoke style the best, and wasn't trying to match my wheels. Saw this one for a good deal in the classifieds at hdforums, so I grabbed it.

Performance wise, if it's any better, I can't tell from seat of the pants feel. The stock SERG AC and this one are both high flow, and likely provide the engine with plenty of air, but I'd guess the RSD may flow better as it brings in air through a K&N filter vs paper, plus the outer flat side also lets air in.

x2 on the Screamin' Eagle heavy breather.  Mine looks like NVWLDTHG.  Haven't had a chance to ride it in high temps yet, but so far so good.

Cheers,
