Again, thank you all. I see from the post "read" count that a lot of people are checking in on this thread and hopefully while you don't post you say a prayer for little Colby or perhaps just keep him in your thoughts. The Dr's feel he has a serious infection in the lung which has collapsed twice. They are working on ridding him of the infection. He is however only 3 weeks old today and they cannot pump him full of Vancomyicin (sp?) like they could you or me. They feel once they get him stabilzied that he will have lost at least 50% lung capacity in the lung that keeps collapsing. The good news is that the 50% figure is now at 3 weeks old. As he grows the good 50% will become a greater pecentage of the overall lung which means that perhaps as a teen, he will only have a 10% diminished capacity in the bad lung and 100% in the good. Nature being what its, perhaps his good lung will actually compensate as well. There is much that is still not known in the science of practicing medicine which is why the term "practice" is used. I digress. Just wanted to update those following this thread and thank all again for keeping Colby in their thoughts and prayers. At this point, all I want for Christmas is to hear my life long friend tell me his grandson is coming home and going to be OK.

PS
Apropos of nothing in particular, did anyone hear Mariah Carey sing "O Holy Night " on her Christmas special Monday night. Tears streamed down my face as she hit notes beyond the range of any human voice I've ever heard with a clarity that could only be described as "angelic"
