We were there last weekend for the Turkey Rod Run...they had sheets of plywood over what they had paved for the cars to cross the track.

do the engines and hydraulic systems on the equipment working on that kind of slope need any mods to ensure proper oiling and the like? :nixweiss:

With modern technology nothing in the engines or hydraulics is changed. Years ago thy used to put the engines on an angle in the frames but it's no longer necessary.
BTW, that is the company I used to work for, so with a phone call had the opportunity for an  "up close and personal" tour. Sadly did not have my camera with me.
They did have one accident between turns 3 and 4 when the cable snapped between a motor grader and dozer and the grader rolled over three times on the banking.
No injuries, dirty drawers!!

Dooinit2u,
The company doing the paving has quite a bit of experience with Nascar: Texas (both times), Homestead (redesign) Charlotte, Talladega, Darlington, Richmond (way back when)
They have a dedicated crew out of Texas that performs this type of work, with equipment and an asphalt plant they move from location to location. No potholes yet.
