Rider Backrest

Guys, I am trying to find a classy looking rider backrest that will match the passenger backrest on my current 2011 SESG.  The HD one for the SG is pretty ugly.  Any suggestions? :nixweiss:

Uh, the HD one is the one made to match the passenger one.  I doubt anyone else makes one to match.  I bought the HD rider backrest for my '10 SESG and even though it's bigger than the passenger back rest, it matches.  I don't keep the passenger back rest on though, as the SESG is my one-up bike.

Red, thanks mate, but I wanted to see if there was something out there a little more discrete and not as large.

No worries mate.  You may have to buy the MoCo's backrest and take it to an upholsterer and have them trim it down to the size you want and then trim the leather cover to fit.

I just put the new 11' rider backrest on mine and think it is pretty sweet.  Just the right size, plus it has the same pattern as the seat and the passenger backrest.  Did you make that decision that it was too large based on seeing it in the store or actually on your bike?  I would think, that if you had it on your bike, you might like it alot.

Maybe changing the passenger backrest to a larger size would balance the size of the driver backrest.

The passenger backrest is a "short" version versus tall.  The pad would remain the same and only the backrest frame would need to be changed to make a taller version.  Personally, I believe that the passenger backrest is too short for comfort.  I think they put the short one on for the chopped down look, not functionality.  I only keep backrest of any kind around for the times when I need their functionality, never for the looks.  I like the chopped down look as well.   Insofar as the rider backrest, I would never not have one in my arsenal.  When you are bar hopping, just take it off and get the chopped down look which I feel that you like as well, but when you are on a long trip, it is really about the functionality of the product and functionally, this backrest is near perfect for a long trip, IMHO.  Remember the rider backrest comes off in 2 seconds (just squeeze and lift) and it would fit in your saddlebag if you wanted to.
