Garmin 665 in HD mount
« on: December 29, 2010, 09:43:35 AM »

My FLHTCUSE6 came with a Road Tech 660 GPS unit and the mount integrated into the fairing.  It really is a very nice set up and puts the screen in a nice viewing position.  I already owned a Garmin 665 unit I used on my previous bike.  I am wondering if I can just plug in the XM radio antenna to the HD cradle's wiring and have it work, or do I need to replace the cradle?  If so, how hard is it to R/R the stock fairing cradle and replace it with the Garmin stuff?

The mount for a 660 used to be wired differently then the mount for the 665. since then Garmin only makes one mount and it is good for both the 660 and 665 so you should be able to just plug in what you want and use the 665 in the current mount. That is if the current mount is the new one. If you plug your antenna in and it does not work then you will need to change the mount. It will not hurt any thing so give it a try.
