That's not the same 103 that was in 2003 - 2006 CVOs, so I don't understand the comparison.  It's a 96 with a big bore kit, is all.  And a CVO comes with a helluva lot more than than just a 110 motor.  I, for one, would rather pi$$ the money away bullet-proofing the engine if I had to (and gaining performance at the same time), than trying to CVO-ize a Limited, both in terms of out of the box performance and accessories.  JMO.

Brian
Every time I ride past a dealership while on LD, I think to myself - -I'll just pop in and have a look see at the new CVO line-up. Believe me amigo, nobody ever loved the CVO Harleys more than me. And I suppose you're right because my 1st was a 2003 SERK and those 103's were a thing of beauty. I think the worst problem we had in 03 was the comp sproket nut not being torqued properly (hmmm does that sound familiar?) Anyway, I've made many a post about jonesing for a 2009 SERG and I think while you don't know me a lot, you know me well enough to know that I generally find a way to have what I want. So what's stops me from finding nice low mileage 09 SERG, or buying a new SERG ? That 110 motor. I won't argue any single aspect of a CVO with you at all - -hell, didn't I recently post about buying a CVO over building up a stock H-D as being a lot more cost effective and also in my opinon an easier down the road sale ? But it all comes back to this dang 110 engine. I don't know what the failure rate is - -whether it's 1 in a 100 or one in 1000 or what, but there's enough posts and threads about issues with that motor on this website that I simply cannot wrap my mind around buying one. Sorry if this somehow doesn't sound consistent or even coherent, it's how I feel and that's all I'm posting here is my feelings, my $0.02. I could be sixteen miles beyond the left field fence but you and I both know that one of the things about the H-D mystique is personalization of the product; making it your own and I simply do not see how I'd want to make one of these my own. I wax nostalgic about my 1st new H-D  (1984 Electra-Glide) but it was a leaky, clunky, uncomfortable, funky running but gorgeous looking motorcycle. I've gotten a bit older and I hope wiser since that day in late 1983 when I bought that bike and hope to have learned to heed the caution being advised by others.

i think some of its psychological. CVO engines have gotten bigger and bigger. if they retire the 110 they would need to go bigger or we the consumer would feel like they are going backwards with the CVO program

117, 120, 124... LOL.. I'd assume thats the natural progression... but the MOCO trying to make a larger displacement Air pump emission compliant while running fuel, oil and spark through it could be interesting... I wonder if liquid-cooled cylinders will happen next?

I'm hopin Harley has made some improvements to the later model 110's to increase reliability.  You would think they did, considering how many warranty claims they paid on the early 110's.

Yep, and when they install the cams the bearings WILL be replaced with the new and improved version!

My guess is the above is why Harley has the 120R.

I was hoping the same thing myself when I bought the 09 SEUC.
No one has enough miles on their 10 to tell the story about them yet.
I hope you are right about the 11's.
At 48K miles now, I know I was wrong about my 09.
