Windshields
« on: January 09, 2011, 03:49:45 PM »

I'm new to the forum and I just purchased my CVO a couple months ago and need a little help with the windshield.  I have a 2010 FLHXSE (spice rum) and I'm 6'2" and not a big fan of the tall, clear windshields.  I traded in my 06 SG in which I had a 12" Cee-Baileys installed and that worked like a champ.  My only problem with the Baileys is that it shook like mad at idle due to the length.  I noticed harley has a 7" shield that has a lip at the top to "throw" the air over ones self.  Does anyone have this installed and what do you think.

Most of us on the baggers are riding with a "lipped" windscreen now.

I'm 6'4" and I ride a SESG (2010) also and I've been riding with the Windvest Gunsmoke(dark tint) 8" with the lip on top.......suits me just fine.  Abot the same as a 10" regular windscreen.  Windvest #61-8040.....   http://www.windvest.com/products/products.html

I am 6'3" and ordered a clearview dark grey 15 and cut it to 10( I kind of square it off at the top with my own pattern) and I use a mustang sport touring seat(raises you up some) and I love it . I look over the top of my windshields instead of through them but this works perfectly for me. Have used  same setup on several bikes.

Thanks for all the info. I thought I was going to end up buying an HD shield but now its back to the drawing board. Just like most forums, this is great place to share knowledge and personal experiences. Keep the rubber on the ground.

I just installed an 8" dark tint Freedom Shields screen on my bike today and took it out for a 150 mile test run.  Performed perfectly at all speeds.  Worked really well at 80mph at keeping the wind just outside of the rider and passenger envelope. My wife was extremely pleased with the addition of the new screen.  I'd have to say that compared to my 8" Windvest Shield, the air is less turbulent with this shield.  Great product that I would highly recommend.

If you put your hand to either side and the front of the gas tank you will find a lot of air coming up. Harley make a chrome fork wind deflector for around $30 that does wonders in cutting down air and turbulance

Really like the curve of that shield, it really works with the angle of the faring.

Nice bike

Thanks Wayne.  I think it looks great on the bike, but better yet, it works like a champ!
