How to installing hogtune speakers and amp in lowers-05seeg
« on: January 14, 2011, 11:21:49 PM »

I am getting ready to install hogtune speakers and amp into lowers. Question is can I supply the amp with the extra speaker output wires from the head unit. I already have hawgwired speakers and crossovers in the fairing. Called hogtune and they were not aware of other set of speaker output wire in the 04 and 05  SEEG CVO bikes. I am also installing xm radio and wanted to do it at the same time. Any help would be appreciated. I know by reading that there are some GOOD techs on this site. Thanks , Tony

Absent a reply from one or more of the members here who can help, give Radio Sound a call (502.267.6768); HD's vendor of the radio in your SEEG.

FWIW:  On a non-CVO Radio Sound radio, the rear speaker signal is supplied from the "Ultra Radio Connector" that is unused on non-Ultra fairing models.  The pin-outs are:  #3, left rear -; #4 right rear -; #10 left rear +; and #11 right rear +.  Assuming the Ultra connector is not used on your SEEG, you can buy the 23 wire connector from HD and the sockets that go on the ends of the wires prior to installing the wires in the connector.

I'm not a tech or audio guy, but I've read on HT's website and on other audio websites that amplified signals should not be stacked; i.e. don't send an amplified signal from one add-on amp to another add-on amp.  Since your OEM SEEG radio has a built in add-on amp, I'd be leary of sending any signal from the radio to the HT amp.  This is probably something you should clarify with Radio Sound or others more knowledgeable about the SEEG radio.

Send a PM to hd-dude.  He's "in the business" and very knowledgeable.
