Would someone that did not have to change their ECM try the above test. Just wondering if all the EMS programed ECM's are set to Bypass Mode?

Good question Brad....I wonder if I send them my '11 ECM (whenever they get that cracked) if I would still have the same situation....

Call or email them, as others have said they know their product and are very customer oriented FWIW.

I'll be interested as what Brian has to say. I just received a replacement ECU from them after FedEx misdelivered my stock unit. One of the first things I have to do in the morning is to password/marry the replacement ECU with the TSSM. I was assuming after this procedure, the security would function as it always has. Now, not entirely sure if this procedure disables this "bypass mode".

Had wondered the same thing Brad.  Been cussing through a kitchen remodel all weekend so haven't taken the time to mess with it.  But sometime in the next day or two will try it on the red bike.  That's got the original ECM on it that the bike came with in 2005 that has always been with the original TSSM.  So it should be as good a test bed as any for the older models.

FYI Just remember that not all bikes came with a TSSM and security system.

But if it has the security system with the fob and alarm siren then it shouldn't start with the siren sounding regardless of whether you jump the starter or not....

Not sure what Steve is suggesting there MJ.  A bike without the alarm system would start if you jumped the starter with the ignition switch and kill switch both turned on.  That would be normal.  With the alarm system installed and armed, however, that the bike starts and runs without disarming the system is something to sort out.

I'm not quite sure what he is trying to say either........If we have stated that the siren was sounding when trying to start, wouldn't that mean the bike had an alarm..not to mention all the references about making sure the fob way at least 10ft from the bike  :nixweiss:

Seems that way to me.  The issue with yours is that it did start with the fob far enough away from the bike that it wouldn't have disarmed the alarm system.  With the alarm system working like that we'll need the accessory 99999-99 SE Chrome Big Ass Chain and Lock.

Not all bikes get the Alarm system with a siren. As an example my 2011 FLTRX 103 with factory alarm does not come with one, and yes I got all the options. So you end up with three types as far as I know.

Alarm and siren
Alarm no siren
No Alarm system

In the case of the no alarm system the bikes come with a TSM, all others come with a TSSM. If the ECM is in bypass mode the engine run portion of the software is disabled and the engine can be started regardless of what bike it's in. So you can expect various results based on what you have is all I'm letting you guys know.
