I spoke to the Exotx owner today and I was impressed with their dust test on this air filter also.....I hope to be a dealer for them real soon.

I don't see the Ventilator in their brochure... :nick weiss:...They do have a filter for the S&S Tear Drop and all Harley Delphi Intakes that use the round filter.
This is an all stainless filter that surpasses the normal paper or gauze elements for the standard dust test.

Welcome to the forum. Hey, your first post and you find the filter everyone was wondering about- do you work for them?  ;D

This looks pretty good, at a reasonable price for sure.

Do you see any downside to this at all Doc?

Here is some info Exotx sent me.
This is a 100x magnification of table salt being captured....the left picture is a typical gauze type element and the right is the stainless filter from Exotx.
They are going to send me the dust test results hopefully soon.....they are quite pleased in how it performed. Again I understand it is a complete stainless filter that can be washed and of course it needs no drying time.
I'm going to get a few filters for builds I do here.

Attached is my dyno Doc1 is referring to running the Exotx air filter

Red run:   Zippers Max Flow air filter on Doherty PowerPacc backing plate
Green run:  Doherty PowerPacc backing plate with Doherty PowerPacc air filter

Well to become a dealer I am required to make a substantial first order and after paying my taxes this quarter I have to waite until the funds allow that to happen, so it will be a month or two. If you want a filter you can order it right from them, I believe.

Ok thanks Doc.

One thing I noticed this filter doesn't have that the K&N has on my RSD AC- the round face plate area is solid steel, whereas the K&N has a round disk that is an extra filter area- wouldn't the K&N flow more air since it has this extra filter area?

Regardless, I suppose the testing you did shows this filter gained whereas the other didn't, so maybe it doesn't make a difference.

The K&N filter you have is not a standard K&N filter for a Harley....the one you have is from Roland Sands I believe and he has a special air filter cover that lets air in on the front of the cover. If you use a standard air filter cover from Harley with that filter it woun't breath from the front.

No, I don't work for Exotx.  I do have one of their filters and recognized who Doc might have been talking about.  I joined the forum several months back as I was about to buy a FLTRSE3, then I had a wreck on my present bike and the deal fell through.  Thanks for the welcome.

I was kidding about u working for them-glad u chimed in on this as it looks like a pretty impressive filter- an extra pony and a couple ft lbs of torque for 80 bucks is a good deal.

For the best performance we want a straight shot from the beginning of the intake track to the intake valve, however other than the V-Rod Harley doesn't come close to a straight shot. Any time you make a bend in the intake track you slow down the inertia of the air rushing into the cylinder, so when racing we will not add any more distractions to the intake track. I said that to say this....street bikes are not going to suffer, seat of the pants, loss in power when you use the Heavy Breather....you might see a .5 or 1 hp loss on the dyno from the added 90 degree angle but if your not racing who cares about that 1 hp loss. I've seen a lot more power left on the table from exhaust choices rather than an air cleaner choice.
I did a study(dyno runs on a mule bike that was mildly modified, heads, cams, pipes, 98/108 95'') on the SE air filter kit, Zippers Filter, Dougherty Air Filter Kit, Big Sucker from Arlen, the Heavy Breather and they all performed within 0.50 hp of each other......the only filter that stood alone with a 2.5 torque increase and a 1.5 hp increase was a filter from a new company called ''Exotic''.
Bottom line and my point is this....for a street bike why not run the filter kit you want because the gain or loos from your choice is at the most very minimal.
Doc
So I am assuming the airflow is similar . I want to install the Heavy Breather on my 09 CVO Road Glide(Like the look)... Do I need a new download/tune or will a swap work fine with the current tune that I have for the stock air box.
BTW anything else needed to swap them out(ie backplate) Seems like every item I install costs more than I think it will  :nixweiss:
