I removed them from my '06 with heat and fishing line...no problem.  As ugly as they are, I think I'm gonna keep them on the '11 simply because they provide some side visibility at night, though I rarely ride at night any more.  But when I do, I want to be seen as much as possible.
If we could figure a way so they weren't visable in daytime it would be great!!

Maybe if they made them in grey...I have seen some reflectors in grey, but don't recall the shape..or where I saw them.

Likewise.  You'll never know if they provided the only cue to someone that you were there.

It's even more of a visibility problem if you put the visor type trim rings on the turn signals...no light can be seen from the side then.  At least on the front of the bike.

Call me a little goofy, but after a couple of close calls, I'm thinking about putting the fork AND saddlebag reflectors back on.  Imho, we need all the help we can get from these cagers with retarded pilots.

I know...I was in the basement the other day installing those outrageously expensive trim rings on the turn signals...when I got through, I turned on the ignition to be sure everything was still working right and took a look at the bike from the side.  Thought about removing the reflectors and almost started doing so, then thought "geez, these things may be all that keeps some idiot from t-boning me...think I'll leave 'em on this bike"

Still hate the look though...

Even though I put the French trim rings on the passing lights and headlight, what you described above is exactly why I elected not to put the trim rings on the turn signals. Even if you put the reflectors on, you've taking away the ability for a cager to view your bike from the side and know if your intention is to make a turn in their direction. Very dangerous situation IMO.
