Hey Chip,  

      Good call.  Not sure which road is called the Gauntlet but there were some great roads in the area.  After MV10, I passed through Blairsville, GA on the way to Anna Ruby Falls and Brasstown Bald ( 4,784') in Hiawassee, GA.  Beautiful area.  Here's the fire lookout on top of Brasstown:
