Rules for Counting: States Riden
« on: February 17, 2011, 02:03:24 PM »

So.. if you fly to a location, say Florida or Hawaii, and rent a Harley, does it count against states riden or should it be your bike from your home to the destination?

DH: Standing back to watch the opinions roll in.

I'm working on a plan now to ride my bike to Hawaii.  Can someone help me with the snorkel design?

I'd say that if you've riden in a state, your bike or a rental, it counts!

I don't think there is a written rule. If you ride a bike (yours, borrowed, or rented) if you want to count it you can it's a personal preference. Some may even count a state if they :trailer: (otherwise knows as "whore" - we haul our ride everywhere :D) their bike there and take it off and ride it. :nixweiss:

Have seen that at major rallies before... guys unloading their bikes 50 - 100 miles outside of destination and riding in like they've rode all the way from their home state. :shocked2: :(

You probably shouldn't count the states that you've trailered through unless you were sitting on your bike as it was being transported on the trailer.

IMO, if you rode in the state it counts. Trailered through, nope.

I would allow fly-n-rides, rentals, borrowed, etc., but definitely not stolen or trailered, lol.  Preferably it would be on your bike from your driveway (all mine are that way-never rented or borrowed to get a state) , except for maybe Hawaii unless Preston gets that snorkel working.

I just realized that it's going to be even more complicated.  You're going to need some method for refueling.  I can already see that it's going to require a support team up above.

Maybe pontoon outrigger attachments on the bike with the rear wheel driving a paddle wheel.  This is going to take more thought than I thought.

I've ridden in 5 states

1. A drunken state
2. A non drunken state
3. A slightly buzzed state.
4. A state of confusion.
5. A state of depression.

You need to plan a ride through Despair and Denial.

Gloom, despair, agony...deep dark depression, excessive misery.  All interesting states.   ..if it weren't for bad luck I'd....(oh well, never mind).

Like the AC/DC song, it sounds like "The Highway to Hell." Which it turns out is not one of the available States or Provinces - Thank goodness........
