Eric,
migt be helpful to know just what modifications you have done to the bike. You said it wouldn't idle before the pipe change or after. Is that the only problem, and the only modifications are pipes? Or has the motor been modified? The reason I ask is if the bike is basically stock, the idle problem might be a simple fix, such as cleaning the IAC.

Thanks Phil...

I just got my hands on her and I don't know her history but I am pretty confident that nothing has been done to the motor.  I put a set of SE slip on's and a K&N.  I believe that is all that has been done.  What are your suggestions?

Being the tightwad that I am, I would buy that used powercommander 3 usb and then call powercommander tech line and ask them for the correct map for your bike. Installing a map in a pc3 is not hard, but takes a little reading on dynojet's website. With their canned map loaded your bike should run OK, if there is not a problem.
That should get you running OK for 165.00 and some of your time.

Another option is to buy the pcIII from fuel-moto with a map for your bike already installed. http://www.fuelmotousa.com/fuelmotoefituner.htm
That gets you a map from a good tuner and their own branded pciii for 239.00 plus shipping and all you do is hook it up . And yoy get a new WARRANTED UNIT. So easy even a caveman can do it.

These options will not have your bike running to it's absolute potential, but will save you some bucks over having the bike tuned.

Kind of depends on just how much cash you want to sink into the bike right now. But these 2 options are pretty cheap and should get the bike running better.

Eric, the above may not help with your idle problem however. Did the bike idle properly before you added the air kit and the slip-ons?

FWIW...Unless there is something extremely out of wack (way rich or way lean or timing way off) neither a tuner nor a tune is likey to fix your idle problem...  You may have a intake leak, possibly your throttle body needs to be cleaned, maybe a bad sensor - but not likely "out of tune".

:2vrolijk_21:   Considering we don't know the history of the bike, or the current state of the mechanical bits and pieces, I think it makes more sense to start with proper diagnostics and not just jump to the conclusion that a tune is required.  I agree with Scott, there could be plenty of other reasons for the poor idle that have nothing to do with the actual map.
