Now I'm excited
« on: March 17, 2011, 11:23:21 AM »

An aquantance of mine just finished tuning his bike. His motor is just like mine (description in my signature), except for the cams. He is using Andrews/S&S .495 lift cams, mine are supposed to be a little better. Here's what he ended up with:

Over 125 ft-lbs from 3000 to 5600 rpm. If mine runs anywhere near this good I'll be dancing in the streets.

Reading your set up and assuming your friends is same, this dyno sheet is a hard one to swallow. I've seen 131'' motors barley get this close... not to mention full blown hot rod builds..... All i got to say, if you can get this much power from your description i'd be a happy camper too  :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

It may seem far fetched, but 4-valve cylinder heads make a big difference. The bike made 120/131 when it was 104 inches and had crappy pipes on it. I should have MY dyno chart shortly. This is the build info on mine. This motor started as a 100" and the word 'stock' appears a lot.

Builder: Lloydz Motorworks -- Pine Bush, NY

Displacement: 110 Cu In (1800cc)
Cases: Stock
Bore: 4.06" (103mm)
Stroke: 4.25" (108mm)
Crank: Stock 106" Victory - balanced
Rods: Stock 106" Victory
Cylinders: Stock -- Re-sleeved w/Ductile iron liners
Pistons: Wiseco 11:1
Heads: Stock -- bowl-blended/port clean-up
Valves: Stock -- swirl polished w/3-angle seats, Andrews springs, and low profile retainers
Cams: Lloydz VM-1.5

Fuel Management: PC-III
Throttle Bodies: Stock
Injectors: Stock
Intake Manifolds: Stock
Rev Limit: 6700 RPM
Exhaust: Bassani Road Rage 2-into-1
Compensator: Stock -- Machined with oil retention grooves
Clutch: Stock -- Barnett pressure plate & spring
Gearing: 2 teeth smaller front pulley (7% reduction)

Is that in a Victory? I have heard those guys go on about how much power they produce over the Harley engines. Those are big numbers and anyone would be glad to have those real at the wheel.

Yes, it's a 2006 Kingpin.

Stock out of the crate the 100" made around 75/92 at the tire. With an S&S airbox, pipes, and fuel controller it made 93/105. The biggest you can take these things currently is 116 inches, which can make 175 HP (14:1, radical headwork, big valves, radical cams... sucks as a street bike, nothing below 3000 rpm). The issue I have with even a mild 116 is that there's not much real estate left for the head gaskets.

Mine is set up on the mild side to be my daily driver, run on pump gas, live a long life, and get good fuel mileage. I was totally happy with it at 120 HP, but a head gasket let go and it had almost 50K miles on it, so I felt it was best go through the whole engine... and if it's coming apart... might as well stroke it, balance it, and improve the oiling too, it's only money. Ended up replacing 1st & 2nd gears in the trans, the shifter detent mechanism, the compensator, and putting a good 2 into 1 pipe on it. Should be like a brand new drivetrain, only bigger and better.

Can't wait to ride it, it's been 6 months.

Those are some impressive numbers on a VERY looking bike. It makes me wish I didn't have the dreaded illness HD-idist so I could ride one. Oh well, I have had it all my life. No sense in looking for a cure now. Kidding aside, nice ride!!!!!

Thanx for the kind words. Don't feel bad, I have lots of friends surviving well with that same disease.

Oh, this is what a stock Vic head looks like:

Lots of valve area and smaller valves are easy to control.

Got the bike back yesterday. 136 hp/142 tq with the new cams. It makes 100 ft-lbs by 2250 RPM and 100 HP by 3750 RPM. Still making 100/125 at the rev limiter!

Yes, I'm smiling!

Got the bags back on it and put on the new seat, then I gave it a good cleaning. I did manage to ride it like 45 minutes today. It's smoother, the engine is quieter, and the shifting has never been this good. The new Bassani 2-1 pipe has one hell of a bark too. I'm burning a couple of tanks of fuel tomorrow and changing the oil for the first time.

7 months is a long time to be without the bike. Lots of time to make up. So far, I'm under the impression that it was worth it...

Refresher on the build:

Displacement: 110 Cu In (1800cc)
Cases: Stock
Bore: 4.06" (103mm)
Stroke: 4.25" (108mm)
Crank: S&S Stroker - balanced
Rods: S&S Stroker
Cylinders: Stock -- Re-sleeved w/Ductile iron liners
Pistons: Wiseco 11:1
Heads: Stock -- bowl-blended/port clean-up
Valves: Stock -- swirl polished w/3-angle seats, Andrews springs, and low profile retainers
Cams: Lloydz VM-1 HP (.484 lift)

Fuel Management: PC-III
Throttle Bodies: Stock 45mm
Injectors: Stock
Intake Manifolds: Stock
Rev Limit: 6700 RPM
Exhaust: Bassani Road Rage 2-into-1
Compensator: Stock -- Machined with oil retention grooves
Clutch: Stock -- Barnett pressure plate & spring
Gearing: 2 teeth smaller front pulley (7% reduction)

It should run for a good long time, as mild as it is, and after balancing the crank in it. Man, I sure hope so, 'cause I don't want to do this crap again.
