It was quite a ride. I was 4th in line out of the 5 us riding - on the way home from Sturgis. Had spent the night in Sioux Falls. Early Sunday morning, just into Minnesota on I 90. Deer came from my right, hit my front wheel from the right side. It knocked me into the medium of the highway at about 80. Front end dropped into a hole and launched me. My friend riding behind me with his girlfriend on board told me later that I did two 360's before I departed the bike. Bike did end over end back up onto the interstate, spewing my luggage, saddle bags, tour pak all over the interstate, in front of my friend, who was now dodging the pieces. I tumbled to a stop (about 200 ft.), immediately lost breakfast, and gathered myself. I had torn ligaments in my left shoulder, right wrist, right thumb, two broken fingers and a cracked sternum (not recommended - very painful), lots of bruises, but got up and walked away. My worst injury did not appear for a couple of weeks. I started having trouble breathing. Turns out I had a "sudden deacceleration injury" to my lungs. Bad bruising. I guess my outside stopped faster then my insides did. All in all very lucky. Never hit my head at all. Did not even ruffle my dew rag. I was leathered up - heavy riding shoes, chaps, quality leather jacket, but no helmet. Progressive Insurance was outstanding. The following Friday, I had a check in hand for the bikes MSRP plus $1000 to cover accessories. A new SEEG followed a week or two later. Life's adventures!!
