I put 15k to 20k on my bike annually.  I know a lot of folks don't have that much time.  Is there a better mileage estimate on how often?
Thanks again,

I have been using Autolite since John Golden aka "The Dyno Guy" talked me into them in 1985.
Have run them in all my bikes without any problem.

I have looked at the "screaming eagle" plugs in the Pro Racing Parts catalogue and wondered if they gave any advantage over the stock plugs or were just a rip off. Costing more makes it better right? :huepfenlol2:

I've got the stock ones an they make the gas go bang every time to what more can OI ask for?

As defined by the "world according to Milwaukee", costing more always makes it better.  That's why anything from Harley costs twice what it's really worth.

Here's the simple truth about spark plugs.  Iridium and platinum will last longer than plain electrodes.  If you plan to leave your plugs in there for 50k or more miles, then by all means buy the high priced stuff.  However, if you plan to change your plugs every year like most of us, it not only makes no sense to spend all that extra money but it's actually dumb.

As for all the hokum claims about "hotter sparks" and other magical performance benefits that so many ads trumpet, just remember that famous fellow P.T. Barnum and what he said about people.

I was in the Harley shop this morning, they now have "high compression" spark plugs. I didn't get the price or part #. I think they were about $15 a pair.
Something new in a dark color, just for you folks with the black bikes! :2vrolijk_21:

I would really like to find plugs that are threaded and have electrodes on each end.  So they'll work coming and going.

Don't know which ones are the best but NGK DCPR7E are only $2.39 at Advance Auto Parts!  How can you say no?  I'm pretty sure they spark most of the time. (but only at one end)

As I change mine every 10K, once I forgot to buy the HD plugs, so I bought Champion at Walmart... they did just fine for the next 10K too.

I didnt notice a difference.. except the wally world plugs were significantly cheaper!

Are those the NGK Iridium plugs? I don't remember the model number off the top of my head, but I think it's the one you mentioned above. I have used NGK Iridiums in several bikes and I love them. They run good (better, in my opinion) and they last a long time.

When it comes to plugs the most important thing you could check is that they are producing a strong spark under pressure. This isn't always at the gap prescribed in the manual.
