That's not as funny as you think it is.  While looking yesterday saw that the "No-Mar" machines had an accessory mount that plugged in to a standard trailer hitch receiver.  So behind the pickup really could do a roll and go.  Somehow that seems just wrong....  :huepfenlol2:

My fault but no.  Supposed to call on a good used machine.  But the days have been nuts and I've not got it done.

Just stuck a post it on the monitor.  Will try tomorrow.

Hey Don - just a thought, does your shop balance when they change the tire?

Last tire change I figured I'd save some money and take the wheels in. It was over the winter anyway so no hurry, and I did not want them buggering with my flush axle kit.
I had also pulled the rotors off since I was planning on replacing all the screws.

Shop did the tires then called me and said they needed the rotors to balance the wheels.
My point is that every time they change the tires they also include balance.

Local HD charges 1 hour for front or back with the balance. And you get a free belt adjustment.
They charged me 1/2 hour each to bring them in.
Last labor charge was $70 per.

The dealership has told me they make no distinction in price as they "can't" not balance.  It's a safety thing you know....   The indie ship wanted $20 more for balanced then not.  After riding a few first hand I started using the dyna beads though.  No weights to look at and no balancing by the shop.

Hell I just have the cheapo Harbor Freight changer and it works fine.  I can do a set of tires in about an hour now.  Coated the wheel holders with that plastic tool handle dip stuff and it doesn't tear up the wheels.  Even picked up their $30 static balancer, works fine.  For the cost of everything it nearly paid for itself the first time I changed the tires, they were up to $50/tire if I carried them in with my own tires, $25 if I bought tires from them (at $50 more/tire).  Hardest part is getting those damn stick on weights to stay in place, been thinking bout passing the balance part and using the dynabeads.  Plus with the changer not being MC ONLY, I did my tractor tires and can change out car tires in a pinch, gotta get em balanced later though (did one of the boys tires Sunday).

The local HF store told me they no longer carried a cheapie machine.  Didn't find it at their online site either.  Probably all for the best though.  Finally remembered to call the machine's owner today and did the deed on a good used Cycle Pro Jr. from the No-Mar company.  It'll be much more than sufficient for the amount of work it'll get here and it comes with a bunch of extra sacrificial pieces and attachments.  Travis and I are going to be tire machine partners so we'll have the Ghost Riding 2LC Tire Shop and Beer Garden.

Do you already have a balancer, or is that the next search?

Machine is coming with a gravity/static balancer.  One of those bar-on-bearings thing.  Last couple of tire changes have used the Dyna Beads though.  I think about them too much.  Can think through too many ways they should be problematic.  But rolling down the road they haven't been.

The ex-Metal Dragon tire machine is here!

Ok, actually it got here a week or so ago and I only now got around to opening the boxes.  Kind of a jigsaw puzzle.  Will be back in a little bit.

(Think the machine will get named "Orgazmotron")

Eureka!

Mostly together.  Thanks again Jim.  Bead breaker not hung yet.  It puts the machine out of balance enough that it gets drunk and falls down.  So that'll have to wait until it's bolted to the floor or some big piece of something.

Haven't yet figured out the other small bits on the floor.  Two flat pieces and a round thing with a hole in the middle.  Desparately sure they are important though.  This machine varies just a bit from the current release of the product that is broken down on the manufacturer's website.  But Travis will be over in a day or two and he'll figure it out.  He can figure out anything.
