Anyone considered switching to Arc on a 2011 SESG2?
« on: March 27, 2011, 06:29:57 PM »

A buddy of mine has a 2009 SG with the Arc audio 6.5 and separates , and their amp on the front. He has Cycle sounds 6X9 Polks in the bags. The sound is amazing and it even has bass upfront. I'm considering putting the Arc system in with an extra pair of their 6.5s in the lowers on my 2011 SESG2. Total cost will be around $750. Has anybody tried this? BTW I'm pretty happy with what I have now but like I said his sounds amazing for what it is.

Plug and play with the factory amp? Looked on the site--you mean MPAK 5 with an additional set of 6.5"s..right.....not sure if it will plug right in on the SESG2 though....

Thinking sending radio to Ironcross for line outs and them MPAK5 and an additional set of 6.5"s. Should be real easy, just is the improvement worth $750?

it's a 125W amp......I thought the one in the bike now was 100W--not sure. I also read they are supplying a harness for plug and play. Maybe start out with just the speakers?

Put the ARC 125.2 BX on my '11 SESG2 with Alpine composites in the fairing, 6.5" w/adapters, the Alpine tweeters fit right in the stock holes & Alpine 6.5" coaxials in the lowers, fit right in & used the stock grills as the Alpine grills are to big. Sounds good to me, but I have yet to get it out on the road for a listen. The ARC BX does add some bass to the sound, you can tell when you are setting it up, you can definately hear a difference.

The 2011 SESG comes with a 125w amp and 1 ohm speakers. The speakers are the HD Boom Audio upgrade. It sounds better than stock but about at half volume the speakers do start to distort. I had the ARC amp in my 2010 Road Glide with 2 Hertz speakers and 2 tweeters and it sounded better. I may go with that in my Street Glide, plus a pair in the lower fairings. A new ARC amp, and 6 speakers will set you back about $1,200 to $1,400. Need to change the exhaust first and maybe the handlebar next, then will change out the sound system. Anybody want to buy the amp and speakers from my SESG?

Yea, I probably would, it was a little time consuming first time around, maybe I was just trying to be extra careful my first time around with this. It wasn't plug & play, since with the 2011 having the factory amp, I purchased the manual to get the correct wiring diagrams do I could splice into the wiring coming out of the radio to run to the ARC amp inputs. Wasn't bad...I always seem to think you can do better than factory audio...
